Another main factor why pre-war Martin is famous, is the forward shifted X-bracing.  Sadly, the latest and only model (the D-45 authentic 1942 with MSRP $60k) that Martin offer with the Brazilian Rosewood has the X-bracing shifted backward.  I have been playing Martins for years and have owned both forward and backward shifted Dreadnaughts.  To me, it is clear that the forward shifted X-bracing dread sounds better.
